Municipal public transport

Public passenger transport within the city of Pardubice is provided by the Public Transportation Company of the City of Pardubice, a joint-stock company owned by the city. The city network has been continuously developing and included 29 routes (10 trolleybus and 19 bus routes), 56 trolleybuses (which includes 21 low-floor ones) and 80 buses (including 38 low-floor ones) in 2008. The company also owns 3 historical trolleybuses and 1 historical bus.

Certain bus routes also travel to the outskirts of the city such as Lány na Důlku, Opočínek, Doubravice, Černá za Bory, Mnětice, Dražkovice and Staré Čívice, and some even to municipalities out of the cadastral area of the town – e.g. Lázně Bohdaneč, Rybitví, Starý Máteřov, Němčice, Srch, Spojil, Hostovice, Mikulovice and Ostřešany. A trolleybus route leads to Lázně Bohdaneč and Rybitví, whereas buses go to the other remote destinations. Municipal public transport provides transport services to the railway and bus stations, to the river port and airport as well as to all cultural monuments out of the cadastral territory of Pardubice including Kunětická mountain and also to sporting grounds.

Pardubice card

The Pardubice card is a contactless memory chip card used as an electronic carrier of fare in the municipal public transport in Pardubice provided by the Public Transportation Company of the City of Pardubice. The Pardubice card has two functions – time fare and electronic purse for payments of individual fees. It replaces paper time tickets that are stored on the card.

In the future the Pardubice card could be used to make payments for varied services and events, e.g. parking fees, admission tickets to social, cultural and sporting events, etc. Payment of fares within the integrated transport system with other transport service providers participating within the region will be another advantage of the Pardubice card in the future. The card’s service life has been specified by the manufacture to be 5 years.
