Internal certification of services for tourism by the city of Pardubice

The intention to certify the services for tourism including relevant rules was approved by the Council of the city of Pardubice in March 2006. The project's objective is to endeavour to not only improve the overall quality of the services provided in the field of tourism and to create a network of quality facilities providing services to visitors as well people living in the town, but also to improve mutual cooperation between the public and private sectors. This system should also contribute to better transparency of the services offered and to better orientation in the offer of accommodation and eating establishments not only for visitors to the town but also for its inhabitants. Furthermore the certification provides businessmen with a possibility to declare the qualities of their own facilities openly and publicly and gives them new possibilities for promotion as well. The certificate granted by the Statutory City of Pardubice is a prestigious hallmark of the high quality of the services provided. The granted certification also brings about other advantages such as publication of a brochure with certified facilities, promotion of certified facilities by the town (Internet websites, tourism trade fairs, regional information centre Pardubice Region Tourism etc.).

Providers of catering and accommodation services, who show interest in joining the certification system, are assessed by independent commissioners having experience in the field of tourism according to the criteria specified in advance. The emphasis is laid above all on fulfilment of compulsory criteria and the quality of the services provided. After the results are assessed, the Pardubice Council will approve the granting of quality certifications to catering or accommodation facilities.

The successful entities are granted a Certificate of the quality of their tourism services. Stickers with the Quality Certification Pardubice logo are also given out. The certificate is valid for a definite period of time. After that time – and also if the operator of an accommodation and catering facility has been changed, it loses its validity. In the case of negative responses from customers the facility already certified will be inspected again. If the imperfections found out are confirmed, the certification will be removed from the facility with immediate effect until it is registered for certification after the imperfections have been removed and until the certification is granted again. The conditions for the granted certification are contractually regulated with individual service providers.
